Welcome to our Amazing Pre-School!
We are proud to be able to say that we have been an Outstanding setting since 2007. After recently being inspected in March 2022, Ofsted reported ‘The children are enthusiastic learners, who love coming to pre-school and thrive as a result of the rich and ambitious curriculum’. Our Team is led by three qualified early years teachers who work alongside a fantastic team of nursery practitioners. We are dedicated and passionate about early years and have solid foundations and a firm belief in the importance of a positive start to a child’s Learning Journey.
Southborough Pre-School is a term time only setting for children 2-5 years old. We are a purpose designed Early Years pre-school on the Southborough Primary School site (please note, there is no automatic transition from the Pre-School into the Reception class). The children have continuous access to our garden which is an ‘outside classroom’. We also have a qualified Forest School leader and regularly take the children to forest school on the Southborough School site.
Southborough Pre-school was established in 2007 and was one of the top 2% in the country to achieve an outstanding Ofsted report. We are proud to have maintained this high quality of care and education in both settings. Our Pre-School is a modular build unit set in the grounds of Southborough School. We are fortunate to have a secure, bright and spacious outdoor play area. We currently accommodate approximately 46 children per session, operating 10 sessions 5 days per week, 38 weeks per year, (term time only). The children are aged between 2-5 years old. We pride ourselves on the fact that we provide flexible, affordable childcare. The fifteen hours free entitlement can be accessed using a combination of all sessions provided.
We are very proud of our provision and place equal importance on supporting your child’s social and emotional development as well as their learning. We deeply care about your child and value them as an individual, this enables us to guide and shape them. We provide a secure and caring environment where every child’s contribution is valued and listened to. We set high expectations for all our children, as we want them to be positive, resilient and confident learners. We support your child to manage and enjoy being in a group and being able to share and take turns. This is how they learn to respect and appreciate others.
We want our children to be excited and curious by the world around them and encourage them to share their thoughts and opinions. Our curriculum represents the aspirations of our community and we are confident that our daily practice provides challenging and exciting learning opportunities which support this.
