Southborough Pre-school was established in 2007 and was one of the top 2% in the country to achieve an outstanding Ofsted report. Our sister Pre-School Petts Wood East (Established in 2001) has also achieved this status. We are proud to have maintained this high quality of care and education in both settings ever since. Our Pre-School is a modular build unit set in the grounds of Southborough School. We are fortunate to have a secure, bright and spacious outdoor play area. We currently accommodate approximately 36 children per session (between two classrooms), operating 10 sessions 5 days per week, 38 weeks per year, (term time only). The children are aged between 2-5 years old.
Morning sessions – 09:05am-12:05pm
Afternoon sessions – 12:20pm-15:20pm
Daily sessions – 09:05am-15:20pm
Southborough Pre-School is owned by Kathy Hardy. Her background is in Paediatric Nursing and she is also a qualified Early Years Professional. She plays an active role in the management of this and our sister Pre-School, Petts Wood East.
Melek who jointly manages Southborough Pre-School has also achieved her Early Years Professional Status and has a degree in childcare.
All of our staff are dedicated and committed to the children and their families, holding relevant childcare qualifications and are pro-active in continuing their professional development. We have designated special educational needs co-ordinators, first aid, health and safety and safeguarding personnel covering every session.
Our pre-school is fully insured and both our insurance certificate and Ofsted registration certificates are on display in the pre-school, as are our pre-school policies.
We recommend that you put your child’s name on our waiting list as early as their first birthday. Application forms can be either downloaded from our website or you can contact us directly to arrange an appointment to view our setting. The majority of our children join us at the beginning of our Autumn term. We do, however, accept children at any time during the academic year, subject to availability.
Each child joining the setting will have a key person appointed to them. it is the key persons responsibility to ensure that your child receives the best possible attention whilst in our care and to ensure that their developmental records are kept up-to-date and shared with you on a regular basis.
Our fees are payable per term, in advance.
Children who are not yet toilet trained are welcome. We do request that parents/carers provide a change of clothes and necessary care equipment. We are happy to work closely with our families in achieving their child’s independent toileting.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Therefore our indoor and outdoor environment is carefully planned to ensure that we deliver the EYFS in a meaningful way for the children. This means that children will learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure the children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school life. (For futher information about the EYFS please visit parent information on the Early Years Foundation Stage on our website).
